It's reallya clever idea. Cynthia announces the adoption timeline and rules on her blog. Then, anyone with unfinished projects that they are no longer motivated to complete can link to Cynthia's blog showing their UFOs.

I participated as an adopter on behalf of my church quilt group. We make quilts for a local Family Emergency Shelter. It's the only shelter in our metro that takes families. Within 30 days at the shleter, they are established in a steady living arrangement. Here's where we come in...At that time, each family member gets to choose a quilt for their new home. How great is that! We are constantly in need of supplies for our quilts and was thrilled when I won a stack of 50 kids sports squares from Libby at Life on the Hill blog. Such a win-win for all involved.

The quilt top is now complete. Mary in our group volunteered to put this twin size quilt top together. I love the way she offset the placement of the squares.
I haven't had the best success at linking my blogs but I'll try to link Orphan Adoption Update Orphan Adoption Update to Cynthia and Libby. Thank you both. Some little boy will surely snatch up this quilt.

I was Queen Bee of Hive 7 in November. Although the quilt has been done for a while now, I just got around to taking a decent picture to showcase it.

I've named the quilt, Times Squared, because my daughter thought the block looked like an hour glass. You may remember the block was the called the Which Way block.

The alternate blocks tie in nicely with the overall design. There is so much going on in the quilt design that I settled on a simple continuous square radiating out from the center for the quilting.

A huge thank you to all who participated in sending blocks.
I tend to get invigorated by the start of a new week. Fresh ideas swirl in my head and get a burst of energy to tackle those lingering projects.

Alison of Little Bunny Quilts helped me out with more fresh ideas when she asked her followers what quilt they would make with a BRAND SPANKING NEW fat quarter bundle of Midnight Clear by Three Sisters for Moda. Because we don't have a Christmas quilt in the house (honestly), I thought of making a Jacob's Ladder quilt with this fabric. It would be a wonderfully scrappy version.
I've been goal resistant most of my life but with Elm Street Quilts' OMG One-Monthly-Goal approach, I only need to set one goal for each month. That's much more doable for me than trying to set goals for an entire year before the year even starts!

So, here I go... For January, I am going to piece together a quilt top with the Stash Bee blocks I received in 2016. Because I was Queen Bee in November, I haven't been proscratinating too long. The block is called Which Way and was designed by Kathryn Wilson Tucker, published in Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, version 8.

I not only have to make alternating blocks to go between the Which Way blocks, I have to rip apart a few blocks and resew them. Some of the blocks I received were finished smaller than the pattern's 12.5" square requirement. You can trim a block down if it's too big but you have to deconstruct a block that's too small. So, this project may be time consuming. We'll see on Jan. 31!

Till then.
